EMT-Basic is the entry level certification into EMS.  The class length is 140 classroom hours with 48 clinical hours, translating to around 16 weeks (1 college semester) worth of time.  After completing the course you will be able to take the test for National Registry and obtain a license in the state of AL or any state that excepts National Registry.  National Registry is the overseeing testing body for EMS licensure in AL as well as other states around the country.  Click here for information about National Registry and it's basic requirements.  Below are the requirements for our EMT-Basic program:

EMT Class Information

  • ​Requirements for EMT

  • High School Diploma

  • 18 years old by the time you graduate

  • Be able to pass a drug test and background check

  • Be able to lift 125 lbs on a stretcher unassisted and 250 lbs with a partner

  • Be willing to learn

  • Have an meet and greet with the director prior to starting the class

  • Anatomy of the body

  • How to splint broken bones

  • CPR and other life saving measures

  • Control bleeding

  • Treat breathing problems

  • And much much more

  • Tuition is $1100

  • Tuition is non-refundable once your course code is entered into JBLearning

  • As part of our EMT-Basic Program, we try to give your students the best opportunity to succeed.  Included in your tuition is the following:

  • eBook

  • Rotation polo

  • Drug Screen

  • Background Check

  • AHA CPR certification

  • Here is how the course will be taught:

  • Each week, chapter assignments and lecture recordings will be uploaded on Mondays.

  • All work will be completed by Sunday night.

  • Each week there will be a time set aside for office hours so you can have a one-on-one with an instructor.

  • You need a 75% overall to pass the class

  • You will have minimal travel to the school for Orientation at the beginning of class.  All tests will be taken in person. Total of 3 visits to class in person.  

  • Any travel is not covered by tuition.
